Scott is the owner and director of Fuqua Physical Therapy. Originally from Sacramento, Scott graduated from California State University Long Beach in 1980. Scott returned to Sacramento in 1981 and began his professional career working in private practice orthopedics and sports medicine. Scott has received extensive post graduate education in orthopedics and manual therapy. He is a graduate of the long term Canadian Manual Therapy program along with an extensive list of additional course work. During his 30 plus years in practice Scott has worked with an impressive list of professional, college and high school athletes. He has worked in a variety of athletic training environments including Olympic, professional and high school sports. Scott has a personal passion in the area of strength and conditioning and has personally competed in that arena.

Jose Martin Buhay

Jose Martin Buhay PT, DPT has been practicing outpatient Physical Therapy for 12 years now. Martin finished his bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy in 2007 and pursued his post graduate studies, which he completed in 2015. He is currently licensed in the state of California and New York. His treatment is focused on evidence based therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, neuro-muscular re-education techniques, postural correction, patient education, and injury prevention. Martin always tries to put himself in his patients’ shoes and this perspective carries him to deliver the utmost rehabilitative care possible.

Sabra McDonald

Sabra McDonald PT
Physical Therapist

Sabra graduated from CSU-Chico with both a BA and MA in Exercise Science and was working in the fitness field. She wanted to do more with her career and returned to school in 1999 seeking a career in Physical Therapy. She graduated from CSU-Sacramento in 2001 and soon started working in an acute setting at a local hospital. Sabra soon realized her passion was in the outpatient setting and she changed directions. She found a position in a private owned outpatient clinic and continued working there for 11 years. She enjoys working with the variety of patients and loves the one-on-one time with her patients. In 2005 she started preparing to take the OCS (Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist) Exam and successfully passed the exam in 2007 and remained certified through 2017. She enjoys working with all aspects of orthopedics and has strong manual therapy skills. She has taken many long term courses focusing on evaluating and treating the spine and the upper and lower extremities. While she enjoys all aspects of orthopedics, she enjoys working most with post-op patients.

Paola Race

Paola Race OTR, CHT
Occupational Therapist, Certified Hand Therapist

Paola Race, OTR, CHT has been a member of the Burger Outpatient Rehabilitation team most recently since 2016, however, has worked for the company previously as a Per Diem therapist throughout 2006- 2013. She has been working in Occupational Therapy since 2001 with 15 of those years in the Hand Therapy specialty. She achieved Certified Hand Therapist status in May of 2011 with recertification completed December of 2016. Paola received her Occupational Therapy degree from Springfield College, MA in 2001. After 2 years working in areas such as Aquatic Therapy, Sub-Acute and Skilled Nursing, Paola found her niche in Outpatient Hand Therapy. In 2005 Paola complete an intensive year-long certification course in Evaluation and Treatment of the Upper Quadrant through Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, CA. Paola's occupational and hand therapy interests include orthopedic diagnoses with special interest in post-surgical rehabilitation of the hand, wrist, and elbow . She works closely with her patients to find the most appropriate and effective treatment plans. Paola continues to grow her practice by attending Continuing Education courses for the evaluation and treatment of upper extremity injuries, as well as by being a mentor to new Occupational Therapists who strive to learn more about Hand Therapy. In her spare time, Paola enjoys spending time with family, cooking, volunteering at her children's schools, exercising, and playing music.

Jana Gregory

Occupational Therapist, Certified Hand Therapist

Jana Gregory OTR/L CHT is an experienced Occupational/Hand Therapy with over 25 years experience in Orthopedic and Neurological conditions of the upper extremity and hand. She received her degree in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University and went on to complete Certification in hand therapy. Jana enjoys working with a variety of Orthopedic Hand injuries employing soft tissue, splinting, taping, therapeutic exercise, and education on rehabilitation and prevention of further injury. She continues to expand her knowledge through a variety of continuing education seminars each year.

David Ruggles

Physical Therapy Assistant

David graduated from UNLV with an athletic training degree in 1989. He has been a Physical Therapy Assistant since 1996. Since then, David has worked in all facets of therapy including outpatient physical therapy, skilled nursing facilities, and athletics. Along with being a Physical Therapy Assistant, David has also worked as an athletic trainer for Bella Vista High School and helped with many other schools. David was a division 1 college football player for UNLV. He played for a top JC in the nation where he won the national championship in 1984. David was a JC all American in the 1985 all state conference. David has four children. He has 23 year old twins, Samantha and Christopher, who are shot putters at UCSB. He also has a 16 year old daughter and a 13 year old daughter.

Trisha Abele

Physical Therapy Assistant

Trisha is a newly graduated Physical Therapy Assistant that has just recently joined the Burger team. She received her associates in Physical Therapy assisting and psychology from Sacramento City College. Health and Fitness has always been a part of Trisha’s life. Prior to becoming a PTA, she spent years as a personal trainer and rehabilitation aide in a physical therapy clinic. Her interest in physical therapy started at a young age when her mother injured herself and had to go the therapy. Since then, her passion for helping others has grown and brought her to her current career path. When Trisha is not at work, she loves spending time with friends and family, working out, and being active outdoors.

Corlis Meyers

Physical Therapy Assistant

Corlis has been employed as a Physical Therapy Assistant for the past 20 years in outpatient therapy. She joined Fuqua/ Burger in 2015 and is currently with the Citrus Heights office. Corlis attended CSU Hayward where she studied Kinesiology. Corlis graduated in 1993 with a B.S. degree in physical education and attained her PTA license in 1997. Taking pride in improving the quality of her patients’ lives is one of her main concerns. She focuses on this by dedicating her service to provide optimal physical therapy care and rehabilitation. When not working, she loves spending time with her family, working out, and practicing yoga/ meditation. Corlis is an active member in her church and participates in their community outreach projects, thus helping to give back to the community. .

Daniel Koyama

Daniel Koyama
Physical Therapy Aide

Daniel began his employment with Fuqua/ Burger in September 2009 and is currently employed as a Physical Therapy Aide/ Rehab Tech. Daniel works closely with his PT and PTA to assist in ensuring patients reach their rehabilitation goals. Daniel is a veteran of the US army, having served 4 years. A highlight of his military career was deployment to Iraq, serving with the 25th infantry division, where his fire team was responsible for the kill or capture of over 200 Iraqi insurgents. After his military career, he returned to California and began to pursue his dream of competitive body building. With over 10 years of intense weight lifting and physical training, Daniel was ready to compete in his first body building competition in which he won 1st place overall. This inspired him to compete in further shows and was eventually able to compete nationally. Daniel no longer competes but exercises to maintain his fitness. Through his body building training, he decided to begin personal training and later became a Physical Therapy Aide.

Jennifer Wild

Jennifer has worked as a physical therapy aide for two years and has been working at Fuqua/ Burger Physical Therapy since March 2019. She loves working with people and caring for patients, which has inspired her to pursue a career in physical therapy. Jennifer graduated from Sonoma State University in May 2019 with a B.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in exercise science. She will be pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Sacramento State. During her free time, Jennifer likes to go hiking, go to the lake, hang out with friends and family, and play with her dogs.

Derek Rodigo

Derek graduated in 2017 from Westmont College with a degree in Kinesiology. He has 3 years of experience in multiple settings such as outpatient and inpatient physical therapy, as well as athletics. Derek was a college baseball player and is a big sports fan. Derek aspires to get his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.ch.

Miguel Garcia

Miguel has been working for Burger Physical Therapy as a Physical Therapy Aide since 2017. Miguel loves working with people and helping patients with their rehab to reach their goals. He graduated from Sac State with a B.S. in Kinesiology. He is currently enrolled in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program at Sacramento City College and will be graduating in 2020. In his free time, Miguel enjoys rock climbing, watching plays, exercising, and board game nights. Miguel recently competed in his first strongman competition and placed first in his class.

Daniela Bernal

Dani is a recent graduate from Chico State University. She majored in Kinesiology with a focus in Movement Studies and a minor in Health and Wellness. During her time at Chico State she was a full-time student, part-time employee with Office Depot, and interned with Enloe Hospital. She is currently a student at Sac City College and will be applying to the physical therapy assistance program in the fall of 2020. On her free time she enjoys trying new foods and spending time with her family.

Mikka Espiritu

Mikka graduated from Sacramento State with a BS degree in Kinesiology last 2018. Few months after she graduated, she started her journey at Burger as a per diem aide. She worked at different Burger clinics at first until she was offered a full time position in Woodland mainly working at the Front desk but still working as an aide from time to time. Fast forward, she eventually transferred to Burger Citrus Heights since it is closer to home. She has been with Burger for over a year now and her journey all throughout has been enjoyable. Fun facts about Mikka is she loves singing since it is a rewarding hobby for her, and she can speak three different languages.

Marshann Fuqua

Marshann has been the practice manager for over 25 years. She is originally from Southern California, where she graduated from California State University Long Beach with a BA degree in Sociology. She is responsible for handling all of the day to day aspects of the practice, including human resources, contracting and maintaining an exceptional office staff. Marshann prides herself in her ability to treat both employees and patients with a personal touch.

Lydia Lozano

Lydia has worked for Fuqua/ Burger for 8 years. She graduated in 2010 from Kaplan College with honors in the medical office specialist program. Lydia loves working with patients, she has a passion for delivering excellent administrative support. In her free time, Lydia enjoys spending time with family, a good Netflix binge, reading, watching sports, baking, and crafting.
